When Disney announced they would be continuing popular Star Wars animation `Star Wars The Clone Wars` where it left of at the end of season 6 fans got very excited.
We didn`t know what to expect from season 7 and although it had been relatively well received, we kind of liked the Martez sisters, the bad batch were an interesting story line but the series in general felt like it was missing something iconic to make it stick in the memory until episode 10.
Darth Maul had laid a trap with the intention of capturing his nemesis Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker who he knows to be integral to the plan of Darth Sidious.
When Ahsoka turns up instead he attempt to join forces with her to foil Sidious` plans, When Ahsoka refuses a lightsabre battle breaks out and it is one of the best duels we have seen in the Clone wars series if not the best. Add the Duel of Fates to the clip and you have one of the most iconic animated moments in Star Wars.
It`s not one of the best duels by accident either, as the video below from the Star Wars Youtube channel describes, the reason that the animated Dart Maul looks so authentic, like the Dart Maul we remember from the awesome duel with Qui-Gon Jin and Obi-Wan Kenobi is that it is in fact Rey Park is fighting!
Yes Rey Park, the actor who played Darth Maul in Episode I The Phantom Menace was drafted in to do the choreography for the scene using motion capture.
